The South-West in Nigeria is one zone where Christians and Muslims dwell side by side with a relatively low level of rancour. This liberalism is a cultural attribute that has been for a long time. In an essay by an English anthropologist who witnessed the celebration of Oke’badan in the 50s, he expressed surprise at how Muslims freely mingled with their “pagan” neighbours during the festival.

Nigeria Is Allah’s Gift To The Fulani
''When I say that the Presidency must come to the north NEXT year I am referring to the Hausa-Fulani core north and not any northern Christian or Muslim minority tribe.
The Christians in the north such as the Berom, the Tiv, the Kataf, the Jaba, the Zuru, the Sayyawa, the Bachama, the Jukun, the Idoma, the Burra, the Kilba, the Mbula, and all the others are nothing and the Muslim minorities in the north, including the Kanuri, the Nupe, the Igbira, the Babur, the Shuwa Arabs, the Marghur, the Bade, the Bura, the Igalla, the Zerma, the Bariba, the Gbari and all the others know that when we are talking about leadership in the north and in NIGERIA, Allah has given it to us, the Hausa-Fulani.
Nigeria Proves That It’s Possible To Stop Ebola
This week, as one patient in Texas was diagnosed with Ebola and another patient in D.C. appears to be displaying potential Ebola symptoms, Americans are on high alert about the potential spread of the deadly virus.
Republican lawmakers are already accusing President Obama of not doing enough to counteract a future outbreak on American soil.
But, amid the ominous headlines about Ebola, there’s one piece of good news about the virus that’s gone largely overlooked: This week, health officials announced that Nigeria appears to have contained the virus within its borders.
“For those who say it’s hopeless, this is an antidote — you can control Ebola,” Dr. Thomas Frieden, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), told reporters this week.
In the middle of July, a sick traveler from Liberia — the heart of the current Ebola outbreak — arrived in Lagos, which is the most populous city in Nigeria and home to an international airport. He exposed more than 70 people at the airport before officials realized he had Ebola. Then, he died. The government quickly went on high alert. Considering the fact that Lagos is such a transportation hub, the threat was significant.
What Texas can learn from Nigeria when it comes to containing Ebola
"Success stories of people coming through strict Ebola surveillance alive and healthy helped encourage more people to come forward, as they recognized that ending up in a contact tracer's sights didn't mean a death sentence."
While devastating reports continue to stream out of West Africa, where the deadly virus has overwhelmed already weak public health systems and left thousands of people dead, and anxiety grips the United States over the first case of Ebola diagnosed in the country, one nation serves as an example of hope: Nigeria, which appears to have successfully contained Ebola.
