WhatsApp, the OTT messaging platform says that it have broken its own record for messages and earlier this week a total of 64 billion messages were processed on its platform in a single day.
The company, which has just been acquired by Facebook in aUSD19 billion deal chose to use Twitter to make the announcement.
WhatsApp said that 20 billion messages were sent, and 44 billion were received. That is a slightly misleading number, as it count a single message sent to multiple recipients as a collection of separate messages.
The figure beats its previous record of 54 billion messages sent in the 24 hours surrounding New Years Eve.
