Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck's superhero showdown delayed

Batman vs. Superman release date is delayed by ten months

Fans will have to wait a little longer before they see Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck face off, with the release date of the much anticipated Batman Vs. Superman movie pushed back to 2016.
The film was originally scheduled to hit cinemas on July 17, 2015 – but has been delayed so director Zack Snyder and his team have the opportunity to ‘fully realize their vision, given the complex nature of the story.’
Warner Bros. have confirmed the movie will be held back for a further ten-month period, with May 6 2016 the new release date.

Speaking in an official statement, Warner Bros. president of domestic distribution Dan Fellman revealed that Peter Pan, directed by Joel Wright, will fill the vacant summer slot left by the delayed superhero adventure.

‘We are happy to take advantage of these coveted summer dates, which are perfect for two of our biggest tent pole releases," Warner Bros. president of domestic distribution Dan Fellman said in a statement.
‘We share the fans’ excitement to see DC Comics’ most popular figures, Superman and Batman, together on the big screen for the first time, which will now be arriving in theatres in May 2016.

‘Peter Pan has delighted people of every generation for more than a century, so we are thrilled to bring him back to the screen next summer for today’s moviegoers.’
Meanwhile, production on the new film is said to hampered following a rumoured injury to Ben Affleck, who fills Christian Bale’s shoes as caped crusader Batman opposite Henry Cavill – who returns as Superman.
MailOnline have contacted Ben’s representatives for further comment.
The film’s 2016 release date will coincide with the release of a rival superhero film, thought to be forthcoming Marvel installment Justice League.
Batman Vs. Superman follows the success of Man Of Steel, which raked in $630 million worldwide in global box office takings following its release in 2013.
