A floating school in Makoko area of Lagos, has been nominated for the Design of the Year Award.
The school was built by locals, using local materials.
The architect who designed it says it is environmentally friendly and can be adopted to other regions around the world where there are severe flooding issues.
The Lagos state government has threatened to demolish Makoko and erect more modern structures. The floating school winning the Design of the Year Award could help save this structure.
