It seems Eden Hazard just can't stop winning individual honours this season, as he took home not one but two awards from Chelsea's Player of the Year dinner.
The annual event, which was held across the river from Stamford Bridge at
Battersea Evolution for 2015 and hosted by Clare Balding, saw Hazard handed the title Player of the Year award, selected by the fans, and be selected by his team-mates as Players' Player of the Year.
It is the second season in succession that he has been named Player of the Year, adding to the PFA Player of the Year, Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year and Barclays Premier League Player of the Year awards he had already claimed in 2014/15.
'The season was fantastic, not only for me but for the team,' said Hazard, acknowledging his fellow Blues players, who joined him and Jose Mourinho on stage for the presentation of the Player of the Year award. 'We won two trophies and I got a lot of individual awards. I want to share these trophies with everybody, the fans and the players.'
The Players' Player of the Year trophy was handed over by Chelsea fans Alec Stewart and Sir Steve Redgrave, both sporting greats in their own right, and the headline award was presented by our Portuguese boss. That was the second time Mourinho had taken to the stage, having earlier brought loud cheers and plenty of laughter with his tongue-in-cheek analysis of what it takes to come top over a 'fictional' league campaign.
It was also a night for remembrance, though, as one of the club's most prominent, influential and respected supporters, Lord Attenborough, was posthumously given a Special Recognition Tribute. Chelsea legends Gianfranco Zola and Dennis Wise both shared some of their memories of 'Lord A' before his son Michael accepted a commemorative champions shirt on behalf of the Attenborough family.
Of course, there were plenty of other award winners being heralded on the night. The future of the Blues seems bright after French defender Kurt Zouma was named Young Player of the Year and striker Dominic Solanke, who scored in every round of our FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League triumphs, received the inaugural Academy Player of the Year award.
Goal of the Season went to Oscar for the second time in three years, for his outside of the boot curler against Queens Park Rangers, and there was a video message from Eniola Aluko expressing the forward's gratitude for the Chelsea Ladies Player of the Year award, as she was unable to attend due to her preparations with England for the upcoming Women's World Cup.
As well as all the fun, celebration and emotion of the evening, the 2015 Chelsea Player of the Year ceremony raised a record sum for charity. More than £100,000 will be split equally between the Chelsea Foundation and Right To Play thanks to generation donations, in addition to silent and live auctions.
